Timeline

  • December 1998
    • Cut big left toe on a piece of class
  • March/April 1999
    • Had my first angiogram
      • Results: blockage in and around my left knee
    • Diagnosed with Buerger's Disease
  • October 1999
    • Big left toe finally heals, after a long 10 months
    • Shortly after, I relapsed with tobacco
      • Resulting in more complications, the toe took a turn for the worse
  • January 2000
    • Had my second angiogram
      • Results:
        • blockage in and around my left knee is now 6-8 inches long
        • blockage in and around my right hip
    • Size of Ulcer
      • Diameter: bigger than a quarter, smaller than a half-dollar
      • Depth: could see the bone of my big toe
  • January 20, 2000
    • Big left toe was amputated
    • Bypass surgery; natural artery replaced with plastic tubing in left leg from upper thigh to ankle
